NEWS & EVENTS
The world is a constantly changing place and taxation seems to change faster than most things. In fact here in Canada, changing tax rules “is a national pastime”. Each time an election looms in the future or when an elected government like the current Conservative government wants to win public approval, they tweak the tax rules to give away some new tax incentive.
So far this year, there have been numerous changes including:
- HST introduced to Ontario and British Columbia
- Economic Nexus introduced in Washington State. This impacts Canadian and other non US companies selling to Washington State customers
- the reintroduction of numerous technical amendments that were tabled in 2007. Yes these have been pending since 2007. That is what happens when you have a minority Government. Tax items get put to one side.
- Implementation of changes to the tax treaty with the United States
In these pages of our web site we put a human face on the changing tax rules. Please read our newsletter for articles on these tax issues.
