WHAT DO CA'S DO?

Chartered Accountants, or CA’s, are business professionals who have undergone a comprehensive training and examination qualification process coupled with extensive experience in numerous fields. About 40% of CA’s are in Public Practice, while the rest are employed in various other sectors, including industry, government and education.

 

Public Practice

CA’s who work in public practice provide a host of services to their clients. These include preparing financial statements and tax returns, providing business and tax advice, perform audits and valuation services, undertake personal financial planning and many other services geared to support the needs of companies and individuals.

 

Industry

Name an industry and a CA will be working in it. From agriculture to zoology, a CA develops financial and administrative policies that help guide the company they work for. They are also responsible for setting strategic goals, performance analysis, budgeting and leadership. You will find them occupying titles such as Controller, CEO, President, Treasurer, CFO and Systems Developers

 

Government
 
CA’s are responsible for setting budgets, guiding financial planning, maintaining fiscal control and monitoring performance. They are represented in all levels of government, from Federal and Provincial Departments to Crown corporations and healthcare/welfare organizations.
 

 

Education
 
Many CA’s are involved in shaping the minds of future business entrepreneurs. Not only do they teach important business skills but you will also find them researching economic trends and developing new strategies to address current and future challenges faced by today’s society.
